USDA Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey Release

USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service will present an overview of the Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey. FRIS provides detailed data relating to on-farm irrigation activities for use in preparing a wide variety of water-related programs, economic models, legislative initiatives, market analysis, and feasibility studies.

Join Carol House, NASS Deputy Administrator for Programs and Products, and Chris Messer, Chief of the NASS Census Planning Branch, for an update on:

  • Acres irrigated by land use categories.
  • Acres and yields of irrigated crops.
  • Quantity of water applied and method of application to selected crops.
  • Acres irrigated and quantity of water used by source.
  • Acres irrigated by type of water distribution system.
  • Number of irrigation wells and pumps.

The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service conducts hundreds of surveys every year and prepares reports covering virtually every aspect of U.S. agriculture. NASS is committed to providing timely, accurate, and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture.
